REVIEWS.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

"A great CD with which to meditate and contemplate life's flow.  It captures the building of a musical collaboration from high school orchestras in the 1950's to mature composition, improvisation and musicianship in 2009 when committed and trained musicians are reunited.  Keyboardist and composer Jacqueline Bhuyan and innovative internationally-known solo and group concert cellist and music educator David Darling blend skills together into a reflective session of music making that is also a fine example of a sometimes multi-tracking and electronically-enhanced  string instrument improvising to blend perfectly into and build upon the harmonic and emotional structure of music for piano as they weave their meditative magic" .....Robert W. Martin, Community orchestra bassist, former banker, Elkhart, Indiana

"Have you ever been late for an appointment?  You're frustrated, late, your heart is pounding.  This was our state of mind when my wife, Vera, and I ran into traffic on the way to an important gathering.  'Reflections on Life's Journey' came to our rescue!  We put on the CD and the relaxing, harmonious tones of Jacqueline Bhuyan's beautiful piano playing was the perfect antidote.  The dance between David Darling's cello and Jacqueline's piano eased our tensions, and we were human once again.  This is not simply an 'ambient soundscape' album....these tracks follow an instrumental path that keeps harmonic and chordal interest throughout, but never fails to soothe."....Clint Goss, Manifest Spirit Records.

"I LOVE Jackie's CD!!!! It's very beautiful music and expressive and dramatic, and so inspired!  I have listened to it non-stop since yesterday.  The CD cover is also incredibly well done, beautiful, amazing.  Most first CDs aren't done so well and seriously with all the home studios these days. She really put a lot into this"........Stephenie in Denver, CO

COMMENTS:  Various reviews/frequent comments by audiences describe my compositions as being "beautiful/calming/relaxing...at times ethereal, or having a sense of mystery, or cinematic..contemplative, good for meditating."

RUBATO:  Much of my music uses rubato which is an expressive way of interpreting music by varying from a strict rhythm or tempo...slowing down, or speeding up...or by lingering on or shortening a note(s) to convey a particular emotion, feeling or image within a musical phrase.

MY MUSIC is written in a  poetic, picturesque, very melodic, lyrical freeform style...it is contemplative in nature.   My music has been influenced by classical composers of the Romantic and Impressionistic Periods, including their fondness for adapting the folk music of many peoples into their classical writing....and by the harmonies found in jazz.  For me, music is a way of telling about/contemplating life's journey, of seeking and learning...always with a sense of hope...the wondrous joy and beauty all around us...of all humanity.  One of my favorite activities is spending time in nature quietly listening to the conversation of the wind through the trees, birds singing, the murmur of a flowing river surrounded by the serenity of green trees/leaves/and grass, sprinkled with the many colours of flowers spreading their wonderful perfume in the air, the clouds above, the warmth of the sun, the refreshing rain...the peace.
